CESO Club Receives Financial Grant

CESO Club is one of the grantees for the first phase of the Youth Innovations Hub – the official funding facility of the Youth Solutions Network (YSN) and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Philippines (SDSN Youth).

The funding facility is set to provide different grants to various youth-driven projects focused on their advocacies and initiatives towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The first phase of the program will focus on smoke-free advocacy.

In addition to the financial support, YSN and SDSN Youth will also be conducting a three day capacity-building training program for the representatives of the selected youth organizations. The training will be on April 14-16, 2023 at the La Breza Hotel, Mother Ignacia Ave, Diliman, Quezon City.

The said advocacy will be spearheaded by Prof. Kevin de Vera of the College of Nursing and Mr. John Mark S. Borbon, adviser of the CESO Club and Mr. Mark Andre B. Andallo of the College of Radiologic Technology.

Bringing Joy to the World with Operation Smile!

The World Citi Colleges- Quezon City, through its extension arm- Community Extension and Services Office, in partnership with the Cleft Foundation conducted a free surgical operation to patients with cleft lip/palate from April 27 to May 1, 2022.

The said medical operation was joined by student volunteers across colleges and year levels. The said activity was not only meant to provide free surgical operation but at the same deliver pragmatic, progressive learning experience to students while meeting societal needs.

CESO conducts leadership training

The Community Extension and Services Organizational (CESO) Club join the virtual training on SERVANT-LEADERSHIP & STEWARDSHIP: A LEADERSHIP SESSION FOR YOUNG LEADERS last October 27, 2021 conducted by the Borres Youth Leadership Institute (BYLI)- an organization recognized by the Commission on Higher Education and National Youth Commission.

Atty. Mark D. Borres, the founder and president emeritus of BYLI served as the training facilitator of the session. The main talk was split into two sessions, the first focusing on Servant Leadership and the latter focusing on Stewardship. Each session proceeded with the following format: a game, a brief explanation of the topic in a plenary hall, a break out room, a presentation of the topics shared in the break out room, and a final discussion on the topic. 

The said training aimed to engage student leaders in a session that develops the be-attitudes of World Citizens and build group of student leaders who can be agents of change and positive development in the community.



Congratulations to Ms. Joanna Marie D. Reyes of the School of International Hospitality Management for being a Finalist on the Search for the Ten Outstanding Tourism Students of the Philippines.

The said national search for outstanding tourism and hospitality students was organized by the Junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Association of the Philippines (JTHMAP) from September 12-25, 2021.

JTHMAP is a duly recognized organization by the National Youth Commission (NYC) under the Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP).

Ms. Reyes is currently one of the Project Events Coordinators of the CESO Club and last year's Vice President of the organization who keeps her longstanding commitment as World Citizen who were called upon to serve and to care!

Luzada seats as the new club President

Rose Lilith Luzada, a 23 year-old transwoman from the Department of Psychology, achieved victory for the highest position of the organization during the CESO club election of officers last September 14, 2021 via Zoom.

Luzada joined the organization this 2021, but from 2012 she has always been involved in community efforts that primarily focuses on helping communities and struggling individuals.

Along the way, Luzada learned that in doing such things especially in community work you must have the ability to understand and share the feelings towards another.

“Effective leadership is done not as a superior, but as a collective equal with the people one leads”, she said. She was gratified on how students of WCC trust her in the said position.

Luzada took over the position and facilitated the orientation right after she was elected as the new president. The election was participated by several club officers, members, and volunteers across colleges and departments.

Borbon, Cadalo present in international research forum

August 26-27, 2021

Mr. John Mark S. Borbon, CESO coordinator and Ms. Katherine Y. Cadalo, dean of School of International Hospitality Management presented in the International Conference in Science, Engineering, and Management last August 26-27, 2021 conducted in Colombo, Sri and organized by Institute for Engineering Research and Publication (IFERP).  
Results of the research study were widely disseminated in the forum participated by several professional, academicians, and experts in Philippines and abroad. The presentation was conducted through Zoom video conferencing and was livestreamed through the official Youtube account of the organizer.

The said international conference on multidisciplinary research and education was bounded to generate a number of new ideas and experiences that participants, irrespective of who they are can derive and make use of in some form of another, towards the advancement of the humanity.

CESO offers generousEATY

August 11, 2021

The World Citi Colleges through Community Extension and Services Office offers "generousEATy: A Food Pack Distribution to the Adopted Community” as part of Oplan COVID (Community Operations Versus Infectious Disease) to Barangay Kalumpang, Marikina City- its adopted community.

The said activity was conducted last August 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the afternoon that catered to around 100 front liners, tricycle drivers, street sweepers, border control personnel, civic volunteers, and other essential workers who continue to serve despite the challenges brought by the health crises.

CESO receives donation from Alumni

The World Citi Colleges- Quezon City, through its extension arm- the Community Extension and Services Office (CESO) received a monetary donation from the alumni of Masters of Business Administration- Regular Batch 2021 last July 30, 2021.

The said monetary donation was turned over by Mr. Fitzgerald Mingoa (left), the batch representative of MBA Regular 2021 and was received by the CESO Coordinator, Mr. John Mark S. Borbon (right).

College of Nursing reaps award of excellence

December 27, 2020

The Community Health Nursing Class of Academic Year 2020-2021 facilitated by Mr. Kevin De Vera, faculty member of the College of Nursing, reaped award of excellence given by the GM Bicol for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Inc. last December 27, 2020 at Legazpi City, Albay.

The class' initiatives were able to raise funds in purchasing COVID essentials such as PPE gowns, masks, gloves and alcohol for its volunteers, and transportation or courier costs of ARV refills for the PLHIVs under the organization's care.

The award commended the class for their noble actions to put the Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) community at the center of their invaluable efforts to advance HIV advocacy amid pandemic.

This afternoon we deliver our donations, both cash and in-kind, to Mr. Jonathan Salviejo, our partner in delivering humanitarian response to our brethren in La Union, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, and Cagayan stricken by Typhoon Maring.

Mr. John Mark S. Borbon (CESO Coordinator), Ms. Elvie Acevedo (CESO Associate), and Ms. Regine Veronica Tayag (Psychometrician) are present during the distribution of donations.

This activity will not be possible without the help of World Citizens who take the call in caring and serving the community!
