 ADOPTED COMMUNITY

Brgy Kalumpang.mov

Kalumpang is a bustling picturesque barangay located in Marikina City. It is bound to the north by Barangay Tanong, west by Barangay Barangka, south by Santolan, Pasig City, and east by Barangay San Roque. Interestingly, this barangay is named after a type of wild almond Sterculia foetida. The barangay is modern marvel of today’s commercial and residential giant relative to other barangays of the city. Its well managed resources have been the key to its ever growing socioeconomic status and benefited its citizens to the utmost care and welfare.

The barangay houses 5,005 households at present and an urban neighborhood sheltering a few of the well-renowned landmarks of Marikina City; SM City Marikina, Marikina River Park, and part of the Marikina River to name a few. The barangay is also home to many churches from different religions. The prominent San Antonio de Padua Parish, simbahan ng Iglesia ni Cristo, and Dating Daan are some of the religious sanctuaries found in the barangay. The barangay wouldn’t have flourished into a beautiful, socioeconomic power without high standards for education. Many of the schools found in the barangay are within walking distance, making transportation a relief for the households sending their children to school everday. Calumpang Elementary School and High School, APEC schools, Jesus Flock Academy Foundation Inc., Sta. Clara Academy, and Bright Star Learning Center are a few of the educational institutions which set the standards of quality education to new bars consistently.

In relation to the blooming community of Barangay Calumpang, the demand for higher quality health, education, and general welfare needs arises in a constant basis. These aspects of the community have been the focus of many sustainable projects of both LGU’s and NGO’s for the past years.
