This program was set to deliver accessible and quality healthcare service to the adopted community- Brgy. Kalumpang, Marikina City, during the times of uncertainties brought by Typhoon Fabian coupled with Southwest Monsoon. The Dean of the College of Medical Technology, Dr. Emmanuel M. Saludes, was the one on ground to directly cater the medical concerns of the beneficiaries.Beneficiaries were able to avail the one week free consultation by just messaging Dr. Saludes on his personal facebook account. With this initiative, we were able to cater the healthcare needs of our adopted community across ages despite the challenges brought by the pandemic and the typhoon Fabian.

A short lecture on the pathogenesis of the virus as well as the signs and symptoms experienced by the patient, the preventive measures and the management.This program also highlights the knowledge transfer on how to understand the pathogenesis ( how the virus infects human) of COVID 19. Be familiar with the signs and symptoms experienced by the individual with COVID 19. Understand the quarantine and isolation protocols implemented by the government . Know the ways how to prevent the disease as well as to introduce the vaccines available. Lastly, the effective practices on the management of COVID 19 for those patients admitted and not admitted to health institutions.

KALUMPANG LABAN SA DENGUE

This collaborative project between the College of Medical Technology and College of Pharmacy was conducted at Brgy. Kalumpang, Marikina City, with 25 participants. The aim of the program was creating awareness and mobilizing the community in sustaining the control of dengue-causing mosquito in their barangay. Herbal plants that are proven to be effective in warding off insects, particularly mosquitoes were utilized and provided by the institution for their planting activity. In order to increase the awareness of the participants, a dengue-awareness seminar was conducted which includes topics such as dengue-prevention, anti-mosquito herbal medicines, and utilizing plants to prevent mosquito infestation.
